Bugs Bunny

Okay so I think we finally got all the bugs worked out of the latest update. I threw the new files online today so make sure you have completely closed the program and then when you reopen it should download a new BuddyWave.exe file and a new config.dat file. From here it should work like a charm.

Cheers

Rollin’ Along…

20070403 12:37

Okay kids, we have our first official update ready. Heres what we improved:

Your friends list will now be displayed in alphabetical order and ‘All Friends’ will be a group by default.

With the messenger you can now send out messages/comments without having to make a permanent group. From the main window where you see all your friends/groups, all you have to do is use ctrl or shift and select who you want to send it to. Holding control lets you select friends one at a time and holding shift selects everyone in between clicks. After everyone is selected just right click and choose whether you want to send a message or a comment.

We built in the shortcut toolbar for easily navigating myspace in our browser. The shortcuts include buttons to Home, Messages, Comments, Blog, Your profile etc. Also, when you are viewing someone elses profile, you can access their pics, send them a message or comment, view their blog, view their comments…all from this toolbar. Makes things 1001x easier I promise.

Integrated the BuddyBackup feature. You can now save all your friends so if your profile does get deleted for some reason, all you have to do is enter your new login info, go to File > Restore in the buddywave menu and it will load all your friends and send them a friend request from your new account.

Its coming together nicely, these features (in my opinion) made buddywave 10x more useful. We should have an update about every 30 days form here on out. Feel free to give us some feedback, show us some BuddyLove, whatever.

The Techcrunch Effect

20070301 15:24

Way Too Cool for School…

So we submitted our software to our buddy Mikey Arrington over at Techcrunch a few days ago thinking that he would give us an equally positive, if not better review as the last time they wrote about us but instead he tore us apart - and that kinda hurts our feelings.

Okay not really - because in reality there is no such thing as bad publicity but geeze man, why you gotta be such a hater?

We had about 3-4 Thousand people hit the site because of the post which is good, hopefully once people got here they realized that in fact, BuddyWave is an amazing application. Yes it is still in a stage of infancy, and needs some bugs worked out, and some feature add-ons, but those are on the way.

I just wish he could have seen the potential of where we are going with this and gave praise instead of shooting us down, but I guess as a blogger you need some positive AND negative posts in there to please your audience. Alright… I guess we can forgive you Mikey…LOL

Okay just needed to get that off my chest.

A Kick In The Pants

The Story Behind The Legendary Software That is Buddywave

Some call it, “A Mover of Mountains”

Some say, “This Will Completely Change The Internet”

No Matter What the Critics Claim… All We’re REALLY Trying to do is Get Your Lame Ass Some Friends… Even if Moving Mountains is Necessary.

So, with all these geniuses calling Buddywave the best thing since sliced bread you are probably wondering; “How the hell did these guys come up with such a grand idea?”

I’m here to tell you…

It all started on a warm, sunny New Mexican day…(and YES guys, we are officially a part of the United States, we just get a little bit rowdier than the rest of you)

You see, even though we are a family of 22 year old college dropouts we manage to successfully run & operate our own online business. For years we have basked in the glow of success, been round-housed in the face by defeat, and gone from random project to random project making enough cash to get by… But, On this particular warm, sunny New Mexican day, BIGGER ideas were brewing…

Our fearless leader Jason Cox was browsing through his Myspace page, looking to invite some particularly good looking girls to our weekly Friday night get together (get together = countless beer pong games and way too much tequilla)

Jason, despite his fondness of the opposite sex was getting really tired of copy/pasting comments into these girls’ pages… I remember seeing the wheels start turning in his tiny little head, and that very same day he started working up the plans and schematics that would eventually let him effortlessly comment, message, and manage his Myspace profile with the greatest of ease.

…And thus, BuddyWave was born.

BUT – Don’t come to the conclusion that his little idea instantly blossomed into the astonishingly cool BuddyWave browser that it is today… No, No… This thing sucked to put together!!

You see, despite being able to run our own online business - When it comes to actually being able to develop software we’re totally & completely useless.

We needed help…

SO - where do you go when you need someone that actually knows a little somethin somethin about programming??

You go to India my young friend… You go to India.

For months we clickitty clacked away on our keyboards with some really cool cats from India and in no time we had our very first version of BuddyWave… Back in these days though, BuddyWave wasn’t called BuddyWave at all… it was called myWHATspace. (Pretty cool name huh? We would have stuck with it but we didn’t want those jerk face killers at Myspace to sue us – so we had to drop it.)

To be perfectly honest with you, myWHATspace wasn’t really all there. It was the weird kid who sits in the back row. You know – He drools, talks to himself, pees his pants, picks his nose, farts with no remorse - the whole nine yards. myWHATspace was kinda crappy.

Not only that but it was constantly twitching out, not really doing its job, and even made funny sounds… kinda like you did during puberty… myWHATspace was BuddyWave during puberty.

Something had to be done…

And when something needs to be done, What do you do??

In most cases you call up India…But not for this project, we already tried that.

For BuddyWave, my very close friend and fellow co-worker here in the office Mike Cianciabella, strapped on his cape, slicked his greasy hair back, crammed his cash and prizes into some tight red spandex and saved the damn day. (You can also hear Mike’s Golden Italian voice in our demo video.. But don’t get too close ladies, the man is an animal)

Anyway, one day Mike said “MIDAZ”, and decided to submit myWHATspace to a very popular tech blog called Techcrunch.com hoping that maybe - just maybe - they would write about us.

Well… they DID write about us and shortly after the article ran we got a very important phone call.

One of the founding fathers of Myspace wanted to talk to us!! (No - Sorry to burst your bubble kids, but your friend Tom is not the creator of Myspace…he’s just some dude)

Brad Greenspan is one of the men who started Myspace, and he wanted to know what the hell WE were up to?! Who woulda thought?!
